Evergreen, lactiferous tree, lat. Garcinia Mangostana. Mangosteen is native to the Malay Archipelago. It grows extensively in Southeast Asia, Thailand, Indonesia, India and The Philippines. Reaching about 10 – 25 m tall. First 12 – 14 years without producing fruit. Ideal temperature for growth is between 25°C and 35°C, with humidity of 80 %. Mangosteen has been a part of traditional Asian medicine for centuries in the treatment of various diseases.
